We are situated just one mile from the scenic A686 which links Penrith and The Lakes to Northumberland. We are located approximately nine miles northeast of Penrith, just before you climb up the scenic winding fell road - the Hartside Pass - with its hairpin bends (not for the faint-hearted) towards Alston, England's Highest Market Town. From the top of the pass, you can appreciate breath-taking views of Cumbria, the Solway Firth and into Scotland (1,903 feet above sea level).
From Junction 40 of the M6, follow the A66 East towards Brough. At the next roundabout stay on the A686 (2nd exit) towards "Alston" for approx 7 miles.
When you reach the village of "Melmerby", after driving through the centre of the Village past the green, the road bends round to the left, where you should take the left fork by the Caravan Site, signposted "Gamblesby". After a mile, when you enter the Village, you will soon see Church Court Cottages on the right, opposite St John's Church.
The nearest Railway Station is "Langwathby" 4 miles away. Also, Penrith Railway Station is easily accessible at approximately 8 miles away. If you require a lift from the Station, you are welcome to use our Collection Service (between 4:00pm and 9:00pm). Similarly at the end of your stay, we can return you to the Station if you book a round trip.
There are several reliable Taxi services that serve the village from Penrith or Langwathby.
There is a limited bus service to Melmerby. However, Gamblesby is only served by public transport a few times a week.
You are advised to research bus schedules and public transport availability in advance of your stay.
